SECEP values strong relationships with staff, students, and the community. With the next five years in mind, our priority is to guide students through their educational journey, foster their talents, and shape a positive future. By promoting collaboration among administrators, teachers, parents, and students, we aim to achieve positive outcomes that extend beyond the SECEP classroom.

Goal 1: SECEP will inspire a culture of support and collaboration.

1. Support opportunities to bolster staff relationships and team building.

August 2023	Principals led division-specific openings at SECEP Centers or venues in the division to welcome staff back to school during the pre-service week for a day of Learn, Work, Play. Team building activities bolstered morale for the start of the school year.

2. Develop a recognition program to celebrate staff and student accomplishments in service, teaching, and learning.

June 2023	Different programs have been implemented at the building level. For instance, SECEP elementary school in Virginia Beach established a teacher and teacher assistant of the month recognition program.

January 2024	Human resources initiated annual climate surveys of administrators, general staff, and students. Survey results were positive overall and will help SECEP hone in on areas of improvement. SECEP aims for continuous improvement in fostering an optimal learning and working environment for students and staff. 2024-2025 surveys will be expanded to include parents and other key stakeholders.

October 2023	The Executive Director initiated the Leadership Forum, a series of quarterly sessions designed to further develop education specialists' leadership capacity. Forums engage specialists in aspects of organizational management, accountability measures, budget development, and compliance carried out by senior leadership. Forums also foster communication and collaboration across cities and programs, as well as the exchange of information and ideas between the education specialists and executive director.
October 2023	The Coordinator of Finance initiated the Office Managers Academy to support the development of technical and leadership skills of office managers in SECEP Centers.
