Benchmark Testing

Description of Spreadsheets

The link below is to a series of spreadsheets that report on SECEP student performance on the Spring 2005 Benchmark tests. There are also separate tabs that report trends in English and Mathematics across grade level.

Listing of the Spreadsheet Tabs and Content

The 11 tabs are:

Suggested Use

Schools and centers may want to use this information as a basis to compare local student performance against overall performance within SECEP. The spreadsheets clearly link specific standards and student performance on that standard. The relative weight, how important that question is in comparison to the other questions within that reporting category, is also described.

SOL Testing

Description of Spreadsheets

The link below is to a series of spreadsheets that report on the results of the Spring 2005 SOL testing and alternative assessment results. Each school division tab has three major elements:

  • Tables that compile the results on specific tests, identify the frequency of disruptive behavior and student refusals to test, and group results by each of the four disciplines (English, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science).
  • A listing of individual results that identify:
    • Student name
    • Grade level of student
    • School Division
    • SECEP Program (ReEd, TRAEP, and ACP)
    • Teacher name
    • Test name
    • Numerical score
    • Categorization of that score
  • A listing of the same data elements sorted by student name.

In addition, there is a tab that complies performance of the students by the division from which they were assigned with SECEP. This tab also compiles the information grouped by the four tested disciplines. Using the tab one can:

  • Compare student performance by school division.
  • Compare student performance by English, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science tests.
  • See the number of SOL tests taken and the number of alternative assessments given.
  • See the distribution of the SOL testing by discipline
  • See the percentage of incidents of inappropriate student behavior or disruptive behavior.

Suggested Use

Schools and centers may want to use this information as a basis to compare local student performance against overall performance within SECEP. The data can be sorted by the various data categories to gain different perspectives on student performance.

Data can be combined from all the divisions to look at average scores and performance within specific SECEP programs.
